The STARVIN’ SID phenomenon has been hovering about the local scene for about 15 years now.
Originally thrown together by Sid for a one-off charity gig as a way of completing his obligations before hanging up his guitar for good (in total exasperation at the bullshit which goes under the heading of the music business) - STARVIN’ SID & HIS INFERNAL BLUES were a 9-piece band which only had two rules – enjoy yourself and no politics. Years later the bandwagon is still rolling on – musicians have joined – musicians have left - and on a couple of occasions people have sacked themselves, but the principle remains the same. Nobody is more important than anybody else – musicianship is admired but not a prerequisite. But mainly… Enjoy yourself and no politics. The membership swung from 3-piece to 5 piece and even up to 10-piece at one time and various naming conventions have been tried along the way such as THE STARVIN’ SID BAND and / or THE SIDPHONY ORCHESTRA In the end it was decided that the only way to keep stability and allow members to come and go as they wished was to blame it all on one man …….
STARVIN’ SID

The present incarnation ( and strangely it gets better with every metamorphosis ) is a 3- piece rock blues variation.
The material as ever is a combination of classic blues by such stars as Robert Johnson, Muddy Waters, Howlin’ Wolf and B. B. King, alongside contemporary tracks by people like Robin Trower, Z Z Topp and Kenny Wayne Shephard.
There are also a few self penned songs in there too in the inimitable Starvin’ Sid style – check out Murder Mile, Down among the Deadbeats and The Man’s a Fool.
A few years old now but still relevant is the 6 track sampler CD ‘ All in a Day’s Work’ which Sid will give to anyone interested at gigs if he remembers to bring any.
